Courier News Online - Westfield High School tackles body-image issues in musical

Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. Boy thinks he's a wimp. Girl thinks she's too fat. Boy loses girl. Girl loses boy. They walk away, wondering what might have been if only they didn't look the way they did.

This little vignette is:

a) Trite but true

b) Silly and simplistic

c) Hmmm, I wonder what "Ugly Betty" would say.

d) Or, maybe I should see "Juno" one more time.

The answers here don't matter. But the underlying dilemma does.

Teens and adolescents have been known to obsess about their appearance -- and negative body images can adversely affect their self-esteem.

That's where "The Guy and Girl Thing III: Body Image Edition Extreme Attitude Makeover" comes in. Part spoof, part drama, part musical, the fast-paced and poignant presentation will step into the footlights at 7:30 p.m.

Update: Library Has 10 Copies of "Water for Elephants"

The driver of the explorer was very depressed about the accident, the driver of the nissan and her passengers (two teen girls and a teen boy) were upset as well. No idea who caused the accident due to the fact that everyone was hitting their brakes pretty hard. The passengers of the mini van 7 in all (myself included) have whiplash and minor cuts and bruises.

DFO: Huckleberries Online first reported this accident, off the police scanner, at 11:32 a.m. Thursday here. I appreciate Angel's update -- and that she's all right. Indeed, online community journalism adds a dimension that the dead-tree media rarely ever does: eyewitness reports from survivors of what would be dismissed as "minor" accidents. When you're involved, there are no minor accidents.

Chelsea Flower Show 2008: Grand plans

Home for Lady Lennox-Boyd, the wife of Sir Mark Lennox-Boyd, former Parliamentary Private Secretary to Margaret Thatcher, is Gresgarth Hall, Caton, a Victorian house in Sir Mark's old Lancashire constituency.

And here, looking across acres of richly planted terraces, borders, walled garden, meadow, bog and woodland, framed by a lake, steep hillsides and a fast-flowing river, no-one can be left in any doubt about her appetite for her subject.

It is the red-blooded passion of an Italian, for Arabella Lennox-Boyd, née Parisi, was born and brought up in Rome. She says it was the Apennine Mountains and their wildflowers that were her early love.

VH1's cameras watch as celebrities go through rehab

Recording devices were everywhere inside a Pasadena, Calif., residential treatment facility, yielding what is being billed as television's first look inside the mystery of rehabilitation - and all under the supervision of the only celebrity in the room without an addiction.
