She is taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for 72 hours of observation, and according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman, appears to be under the influence of some substance and seems to not have eaten or slept in days. Reports say, however, that Spears tests clean for drugs and alcohol. But Friday afternoon, a judge gave full custody of the boys to their father and completely suspended Spears' visitation rights. DEC. 4, 2007: Child welfare investigators investigate ''multiple child abuse and neglect'' allegations in the custody battle between Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline. OCT. 30, 2007: A Los Angeles court commissioner grants Spears three weekly monitored visits with Sean Preston and Jayden James. OCT. 25, 2007: Spears avoids a criminal hit-and-run trial by paying for damages in a fender-bender.

Donated, freeze-dried tendon grafts loaded with gene therapy may soon offer effective repair of injured tendons, a goal that has eluded surgeons to date. According to study data published in the journal Molecular Therapy, a new graft technique may provide the first effective framework around which flexor tendon tissue can reorganize as it heals. Such tissue-engineering approaches could significantly improve repair of anterior cruciate ligaments and rotator cuffs as well, researchers said. The study was in a mouse model designed to resemble hard-to-repair flexor tendons in human hands, and the results should provide an impetus for future clinical trials.
Tendons are elastic cords that anchor muscle to bone and enable flexing muscle to move limbs. Related injuries represent nearly half of 33 million U.S.
Cage's naked intruder sent to rehab
The naked intruder that Nicolas Cage found in his home last year has been ordered to undergo six months of drug rehab, according to officials. Robert Dennis Furo, pleaded guilty to one count of stalking during a court appearance just outside of Los Angeles. A judge dropped two charges against the 46-year-old and gave credit for time already served. Cage and his family were at their waterfront home in the exclusive, gated community of Newport Beach on October 1 when Furo entered the house. The National Treasure star found Furo standing near a bathroom wearing nothing but one of his leather jackets. The Oscar-winning actor confronted him, asked him to remove the jacket, escorted him outside, and called a security guard. Furo's lawyer, Jack Kayajanian, said his client was in a stupor caused by sleeping pills and the prescription pain killer Vicodin.
